Mass Save Incentives for Asbestos & Vermiculite Removal

Homeowners in Massachusetts can now save thousands by removing asbestos and vermiculite insulation through the Mass Save® program. At Femme Works Solutions, we help clients take full advantage of these incentives—ensuring safe removal and full compliance with program requirements.
If your home was built before 1990, there’s a high chance it contains hazardous insulation materials. Through the Mass Save initiative, you could qualify for up to 100% coverage for asbestos or vermiculite abatement, making it the perfect time to upgrade to safer, more energy-efficient insulation.
What Is the Mass Save Program?
The Mass Save® program is a collaborative energy efficiency initiative sponsored by Massachusetts’ gas and electric utility companies. Its main goal is to help residents lower energy consumption, reduce utility bills, and improve home safety and comfort.
One of its most important offerings is the incentive for asbestos and vermiculite insulation removal, which removes barriers to accessing modern insulation upgrades. Since hazardous materials must be removed before energy efficiency improvements can be made, Mass Save covers this step as part of its no-cost weatherization services for eligible homes.
Who Qualifies?
To be eligible for Mass Save rebates for asbestos or vermiculite removal, you must meet the following criteria:
- Property location: Your home must be in Massachusetts.
- Property type: Residential buildings with 1–4 units.
- Heating: You must heat your home with a participating utility provider.
- Year Built: Homes built before the 1990s are typically more likely to qualify due to the use of outdated insulation materials.
- Program participation: You must undergo a no-cost Home Energy Assessment through Mass Save.
- Income eligibility per household applies
Once assessed, if asbestos or vermiculite is identified and prevents weatherization improvements, you may qualify for partial or full vermiculite removal incentives and/or reimbursement.
Covered Services & Rebates
